On March 7th, 2016, The Israeli Science, Technology and Space Ministry launched a year-long wall exhibit at Ben-Gurion International (BGI) Airport, of approximately 60 Israeli developments and discoveries that have had direct and indirect influence on the lives of millions of people around the world.

The ceremony was held in the presence of the Science, Technology and Space Minister Ofir Akunis and the Transportation and Road Safety and Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz. The exhibit is displayed on a giant wall just past passport control and will have the potential of reaching approximately 8 million people.

HP Indigo is also present at this exhibition, thanks to the development of ElectroInk - the world's first electronic ink for commercial printing, developed by Benny Landa, the founder of HP Indigo.

Alongside the other exhibits, you can also find pictures of Benny Landa and the most advanced and productive digital press in the market today, the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press. The caption accompanying the pictures reads:

"ElectroInk - the world's first electronic ink for commercial printing
Electrically-charged, patented liquid ink for high-quality digital commercial printing invented and first developed in Israel.

This technology has transported the digital benefits into the printing industry, which was analogue up to the time of this invention. This technology led to the development of digital presses that enable printing directly from the computer, thus transforming the existing printing methods. Over 6,000 presses based on this technology, all made in Israel, are currently in use in 120 countries around the world."

Arik Sofer, HP Indigo's marketing manager in Israel, represented the company at the launch ceremony, alongside scientists, Nobel laureates, inventors and other developers. "There is no doubt that this is a great honor for HP Indigo, to be included in such a dignified and impressive list, along with such inspiring and important people and developments. We are proud to be an Israeli company founded in Israel, whose development and production centers, as well as the International business management, are all based in Israel. Furthermore, the printing market in Israel is incredibly creative, and we are pleased that this field is represented in such an exhibition”, stresses Arik.

Alongside famous developments, such as cherry tomatoes, USB flash drive, the medication "Copaxone" for treatment of multiple sclerosis, the "Mobileye" collision avoidance technology and Intel chips developed in Israel, there are also less known developments, such as a method to activate immune cells to treat cancer, medications for the treatment of Alzheimer and Parkinson, the development of grape varieties without seeds, development of a muon detector that is used in the particle accelerator at Cern, Switzerland and much more.

Sections of the exhibition are devoted to Israel's eight Nobel science laureates, three Turing laureates and one Fields Medal winner, as well as to prominent scientists such as – inter alia – Chaim Weizmann, Aaron Aaronsohn and Albert Einstein.

Science, Technology and Space Minister Ofir Akunis said at the ceremony: "The exhibit is a major public diplomacy asset for Israel. We are showing the vast contributions of Israeli science and technology to the world and all humanity. We have what and who to be proud of. Israel is a pioneering country and innovative leader. The entire world admires, and is amazed by, our achievements; therefore, it is fitting that they be shown at the gateway into and out of Israel."

Arik concludes: "There is no doubt that we, at HP Indigo, as a technological trailblazer and leader in innovation, are very proud of the recognition of our achievements, proud to appear in an exhibition with all the big names, and are looking forward to many more years of invention, innovation and development that will alter and transform the printing world even more.

"Apart from the impressive achievement, the timing is excellent for us, because during the next two months, more than 1,000 HP Indigo press owners and managers of printing houses from all over the world, will visit the country as guests of the company, leading up to the Drupa exhibition, to be held in Dusseldorf, Germany in June 2016. We are extremely happy that this is what they will see at Israel's gateway".
